My Approach

Design

I follow the principle that design is a process and covers all industries. I often find myself (as I’m sure most designers do) fighting the misconception that design is somehow only linked to graphics or fashion and is the domain of artists. I have found an interesting challenge in working the design process into software development and teaching ‘developers’ how to be creative in a more conscious way. So far it’s working pretty well.

I find the most inspiration in clever designers who have solid skills in their chosen medium and are constantly finding new ways to push the boundaries. There is also something to be said for people who are prepared to stand up for what they believe in whether it be a personal belief or not wanting to wear a shirt and tie to work.

Life

We all have our own ways of dealing with life. I personally look for balance though often how I find that balance is fairly ad hoc. Sometimes it involves running around in circles looking skyward and other times it simply involves going zen on the world and sitting blankly. I believe panic is a good thing as long as it’s not a constant state and that emotions rule us regardless of what the rationalists say.

In general I believe everyone has the right to live as they want to as long as it doesn’t stop others from doing the same. How they get there is up to them. I listen to punk music and like having colourful spikey hair. I wear big shoes and baggy pants and really come alive when I’m in a creative environment.

It’s all good.
